A spell and a computer program are unnervingly alike, and I keep coming back to that. Both start with an intention. Both work through language, sequence, repetition, protocol. Both are written so that something will happen.
Where they split is what you can take out. A program can be copied, moved, run on another machine, and it does the same thing. A spell can't. Its timing, its materials, the weather, the state of the person doing it — that isn't packaging around the instruction, it is the instruction. A spell copied word for word is not the same spell performed twice.
That difference is the whole thing here.
Computational systems work by making things legible. Experience becomes data, attention becomes engagement, a person becomes a profile. Whatever can't be made operational gets dropped. I wanted to find out whether you can enter that relation without becoming fully readable inside it.
So the spell doesn't happen here. A browser can't hold one, and I'd rather admit that than build something that pretends. What you get is an instruction to leave — something small and slightly strange to do somewhere this website will never see. I'm not asking for proof. No photo, no location, no account of how it went. The field doesn't verify. It takes what it's given.
When you come back, you draw once. Not a picture of what happened — whatever your hand still has of it.
Your mark never gets read. It gets measured: how fast, how far, how jagged, whether it curled inward or reached out, whether it closed or trailed off. Nine numbers describing a motion, none of them describing a meaning. They become a small push along two axes — contracted↔expanded, still↔flowing. I took these from qi rather than from any of the consciousness charts that rank states from shame up to enlightenment, because I don't want a system where grief pulls the picture down. Nothing here is higher than anything else. They're conditions, not scores.
The push moves the visual, which everyone shares. You can watch your mark travel through it. What you can't do is find it again — nobody can run the pattern backwards to the person, the object, or the intention that started it. That's the part I care about most: it's all completely visible and still not readable.
Every day the field makes a new instruction out of wherever it's been left. I don't write it. Whoever came yesterday wrote it, and none of them did.
It keeps what you gave it without keeping you.
